Home made kimchi : PINAYs' EASY RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:


  • 1 kg. womboc (chinese cabbage)
  • 1 pc. radish
  • 100 g. onion leeks
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 3 tbsp. hot pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp. fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar












  •  Half fill a jar with water
  • Add salt
  • Cut the womboc into halves
  • Cut slits (4-5) into the base of the womboc 
  • Soak in the jar (the base of the womboc sitting at the bottom of the jar)
  • Let it stand overneight

  • Remove the womboc from the jar
  • Pull the womboc apart from the slits on the base



  • Cut the womboc into smaller pieces


  • Rinse the womboc several times to remove salt and then drain




  •  Slice the onion leeks and radish



  • Mince the garlic and chop into bits


  • Put together the womboc,onion leeks, radish and garlic in a bowl then mix 
  • Add the fish sauce, brown sugar and the pepper flakes




  •  Mix ingredients thoroughly with your hands



  • Transfer into individual containers and let it stand for 1-2 days to ferment
  • Refrigerate for future use

NOTE:

YOU MAY ADJUST AMOUNT OF PEPPER FLAKES AND FISH SAUCE TO SUIT YOUR TASTE PREFERENCE.
