Cordillera Mountains

These are just some of the beautiful mountain ranges in the Cordillera Administrative Region taken at random during our field visits particularly in Ifugao and Benguet.

Cordillera could be found in Luzon comprising of six provinces namely, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Benguet, Ifugao and Mountain Province. The regional center is Baguio City, the summer capital of the Philippines.

As elaborated by wikipedia , the region is mainly mountainous situated within the Cordillera Central mountain range.  The highest mountain in the range is Mount Pulag located at Kabayan, Benguet.  It is the highest mountain in Luzon and the second highest in the country after Mt. Apo.

Travelling through the ranges is quite tiresome but fantastic.  A bit scary though especially in some areas where the road is just enough to accommodate just one vehicle and looking down, while traversing, seeing the very high ravine just below the road will make you hold your breath for some moments and will remember to breath again until you reached a safer portion. I still remember the feeling of holding my breath, wanting to get down from the vehicle to walk instead and after passing that bottleneck of the road, i made a really very deep breath as a sign of relief.  The very long travel aggravated by the hammering rugged road in some places could be so exhausting but the experience is worth the trip.
