Coming to the Philippines…ARE YOU READY?

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED AND BE PREPARED”. Bear this in mind when contemplating of visiting or moving in the Philippines. While there are various articles that educate foreigners on what to expect coming here, most often than not, it could either be understated or overly exaggerated. I am not suggesting at all that they are not true but the accuracy is sometimes undermined for some reasons. One reason is the diverse cultures Philippine has. As a matter of fact, even us, the locals, tend to be mislead by what we read and what we heard from others about our fellow countrymen only to realize how silly it was to have believed such. One good example I would cite is the perception of some of our
fellow Filipino brothers that Igorots are headhunters, backward, illiterate, and ugly people of the mountains. This belief would have stemmed from the movies, magazines and other materials that they watched and read depicting us as such but it is far, very far from reality. Now my point is, do a lot of reading and research but don’t believe everything. What is true to Cebu may not be to Baguio. You will uncover the truth when you are here. So come on in the Philippines and enjoy what this country can offer!
