INGREDIENTS: 1 pc large Milkfish (bangus), cleaned and sliced into serving pieces 3 pieces tomatoes, quartered 1 tbsp fish sauce 1 medium onion, sliced 4 cups water 5 pcs. tamarind 5 pcs pias 5 pcs siling haba 1 tbsp. venigar 2 cups kangkong leaves 1 pc. radish , sliced 100 g. prawns (optional) 1 small pack of tamarind powder (optional), this is to further enhance the flavor
PROCEDURE:
Bring water to a boil.
Add the tomatoes, onion, tamarind, pias, fish sauce and venigar and let it simmer for few minutes. When the tamarind softened, put them in a strainer then mash to separate the juice from the pulp. Discard the pulp.
Add the bangus. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Add the tamarind powder and salt to taste.
Add the labanos, kangkong and shrimp and simmer for 5 minutes.
