Sinigang na bangus : PINAYs' EASY RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:
1 pc large Milkfish (bangus), cleaned and sliced into serving pieces
3 pieces tomatoes, quartered
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 medium onion, sliced
4 cups water
5 pcs. tamarind
5 pcs pias
5 pcs siling haba
1 tbsp. venigar
2 cups kangkong leaves
1 pc. radish , sliced
100 g. prawns (optional)
1 small pack of tamarind powder (optional), this is to further enhance the flavor
- Bring water to a boil.
- Add the tomatoes, onion, tamarind, pias, fish sauce and venigar and let it simmer for few minutes. When the tamarind softened, put them in a strainer then mash to separate the juice from the pulp. Discard the pulp.
- Add the bangus. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add the tamarind powder and salt to taste.
- Add the labanos, kangkong and shrimp and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, add siling haba.
- Serve hot.
