How powerful is positive thinking? PART 1

What is positive thinking? Collins English Dictionary
defines positive thinking as an optimistic attitude and a technique for changing your attitude and fostering optimism. Norman Vincent Peale pointed out that it is a philosophy and an  expression of faith that does not ignore life's problems, but rather explains a tough-minded, practical approach to life's full potential.   He enumerated ten (10) simple practical techniques for successful living that works,  to wit:
  1. Believe in yourself - have faith in your abilities, be confident  and set aside inferiority complex. While we cannot be at par with others in terms of intellectual or physical aspects,  but we can achieve what we aspire so long as we stop thinking that we can't.
  2. A peaceful mind generates power - Thinking about a lot of things could be very stressful leading to restlessness.  Mr. Peale pointed out that the primary method for gaining a mind full of peace is to practice emptying the mind of fears, hates, insecurities, regrets and guilt feelings.  Prevent unhappy thoughts from filling your mind.  Saturate your thoughts with peaceful experiences, words and ideas instead.
  3. Have constant energy - The mind is so powerful that if we think we are tired, then our body accepts that.  At times, even when we are very tired, just the thought of people depending upon us instantly boosts our energy and gives us reason to keep going.
  4. Prayer power - The most tremendous power in the world is prayer.  The secret is to find the process that will most effectively open your mind humbly to God.  Remember that prayer is our personal interaction with God.  God hears prayer that comes from the heart.
  5. Create your own happiness - You alone decides whether you shall be happy or not.  Although other people could affect the way you live,  but it is ultimately your choice to be happy or you can also be unhappy if you want to.  There are times that circumstances will hinder us from being happy, but after the sorrow, get up and move forward.  Rejoice for the Lord has given you another day to live.
